All of our senses take in information. We don't ask it to, it just does. Our brain is like a sorting station. The info comes in and goes through various relays to get where it is supposed to go. It's not faultless. As we age the paths may get crossed or disconnect and we may not get messages where they belong. (memory loss) However, if we are healthy, these travel to the part of the brain that interprets the signals.
Once it's interpreted into basics like pain, the scent of cookies baking, the sound of a dog barking or the taste of your favorite pasta dish then it is able to think further about it. Like this...pain, in my neck on the left side, probably from sleeping with my head on the arm of the couch yesterday. Cookies, they sure smell good, can't wait to try one. Dog barking, I wonder what they are barking at this early in the morning? Favorite Pasta dish, oh...that's good. I wish I had time to savor it a little more but I have to eat and run. Of course this is simplified. But, I am sure you go on sometimes and think about things for much longer. We do this without thinking after awhile. Some days we find ourselves thinking more than doing.
So if it's our thinking that tells us about our surroundings it stands to reason that if we take an unpleasant thought, like pain or illness and change the way we think about it...it can change our understanding of it.
Here is a challenge that I will do with you. Let's think of illness and pain as a signal from our brain. Just a signal to get our attention. Do we need to do something about it? Let's just see how this goes. Let's take "Knee pain", it's telling us the knee hurts. OK, so do we need to rub it? Do we need to put ice or heat on it? Do we need to loose some weight to get less pressure on that joint? Do we need to slow down the exercise routine today? Do we need to get new shoes, put them on or get new arch supports? Make a chiropractor appointment? Think it through and take your own advice. If you don't have advice for yourself that you trust? You can email me at sandrabullard11@gmail.com. Together we can discover your way to natural health.
I'll be waiting to hear from you. It's easy and important that you also learn the signs that signal a doctors appointment for a more serious signal or symptom. I'll tell you what those are when we talk.
To your best health,
Sandra Bullard
