Aesop...how'd you get so smart?

Stories and fables are told throughout cultures all over the world. I love the ones that have a morale to the story. You know the ones I mean. They seem to stay with you long after they are told. It's the hook that the story has that keeps you remembering it for years to come.
Did you hear the one about the ant and the grasshopper? Here is a refresher if you did.

In a field one summer's day a Grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its heart's content. An Ant passed by, bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest.

"Why not come and chat with me," said the Grasshopper, "instead of toiling and moiling in that way?"

"I am helping to lay up food for the winter," said the Ant, "and recommend you to do the same."

"Why bother about winter?" said the Grasshopper; we have got plenty of food at present." But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil. When the winter came the Grasshopper had no food and found itself dying of hunger, while it saw the ants
distributing every day corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer. Then the Grasshopper knew:
Moral of Aesops Fable: It is best to prepare for the days of necessity

Always be open to ways you can prepare for your future necessity. See what's going on at my house...The Ant Farm

The Two Foot Tale

Have you ever had one of those moments of reflection in your life? I find that funerals tend to take me there. It's like a light bulb goes on and you can feel the moment. You feel the realness. You want to do something that matters. What will you leave behind? What will people say about you at the end of your life? Will they struggle to find anything nice to say? Did they even get to know you? Did you believe in a cause? Did you make an impression on anyone?

The thoughts just get whirling around and around. It was one of those times in my life that I decided to make a difference by helping others get their dreams. Now you may think that is not something anyone can do. Ordinarily I would agree with you on that. However, through the business that I chose, it's not only possible, it's mandatory. We have to help people. I am so glad that I have been pushed out of my comfort zone to do just that. I never would have learned how to love people. I never would have learned to take the walls of my own down. I would only be a shell and not the chicken you see today. Yes, I am still a chicken in a lot of ways. I am still afraid to make mistakes, still think I may not learn to fly, still feel ugly and clumsy and wet behind the ears. But the journey that I have taken to crack my shell has been the most wonderful, breathtaking journey I could imagine.

On the road you walk, don't walk alone, don't be afraid to roam. Find a friend, maybe two that will let you be you. Become the person you wish to be. That will reveal your passion. Follow that path and you will leave behind beautifully worn shoes with a magnificent story worth telling.

I am always looking for new friends, I am enjoying the journey...please join me.

Bread for the Brain

Ever take an inventory of the things in your life that drag you down? Taking our the garbage...check. Neighbors dog pooped in the yard...check. My boss doesn't see that all his/her interruptions make it hard to get things done...check.

What happens to your energy level, your creativity, your concentration when you get dragged down?? Don't you feel like you want to get out, get up, get away?? That's your natural defense of fight or flight kicking in. It's there to protect you from harm. Well in the good old cave days that is. Now we just grin and bear it don't we? Every time you get dragged down, you aren't able to get up, get out or get away from what bugs you. We don't realize what our body is going through to try to keep everything under wraps. It's draining on the mind and the body for hours afterwards. If you have a stressful job or responsibilities throughout the day...it may just go from one stressful moment to the next.

It's time for you to take an inventory. Yep, right now. Otherwise you'll never do it. Get a pen and paper. Don't care if you write with a crayon. List those things that drain all your energy, upset you, make you crazy, bug the daylights out of you. Get really petty here. Keep going once you get started, flip the paper over and go to town on it. Get it cleaned out of your head and onto paper.

Done? Great!! I'm proud of you for doing that!! I'll tell you why. It's easier not to. It's easier...but it's not more beneficial. Here is the big benefit of cleaning out the clutter. Your poor brain carries all that around and it continues to think about it...sometimes a lot! It's like a "HOT" button. It keeps getting pushed.

So here is what you can do with that list. Circle the TOP 5 things on that list that will bring you what you want in life. I'll wait.......I'm still here...waiting. You didn't circle anything? I'm not surprised!!! Not at all!! None of the things on your list will bring you what you want. So quit thinking about them so much. The more you think about them the more power you give them and the more they drag you down.

When those thoughts that drag you down happen, push them out with a good thought. The more you practice the better you will get. Win the battle and you will win the war!! Need help getting focused on a new way of thinking?? Give me a shout!! I'm here for you. It took me quite awhile to get a winning attitude. I can help you get one too. email me: sandrabullard11@gmail.com

Thursday

OH....SURPRISE!!

Ever play with one of those toys as a kid that gave you complete control over the outcome. Slide the marble down the shoot and it would hit a bell, aim your dart gun at the rabbit and bing...ya hit it? Don't you wish it was that easy to know the outcome of everything? Do you ever wish you had a peak into even the next few weeks so you could better make decisions? Boy, I do.

The other day I was sitting in my office, just had finished my coffee and deciding what the Top 5 on my "TO DO" list would be for the day, when the phone rang. It changed the entire day. Like a Jack in the Box, life is unpredictable. You never really know when something unexpected will pop up. So we just keep cranking away unaware don't we? As you may have guessed by now, I am passionate about taking your health seriously. How many people have you known that didn't, and all of a sudden had a major health condition suddenly pop up? It's so easy to neglect our responsibility when it comes to our health.

Humor me while I step up on this soap box__/------\__
No one knows how you feel, what you eat, what activity you do, how happy or sad you are, how stressed or worried you are better than YOU DO! Make your doctor a part of your own, hand picked, health mastermind team. A mastermind team is a group of individuals with a common goal---Your Health. Add a good nutritionist, a massage therapist, a financial counselor, a chiropractor, a psych therapist, a religious guru, a holisitc health nurse, a dentist, eye doctor, music therapist, hearing specialist....you get what I am saying?? It takes a team of individuals, including YOURSELF, to make your life as long and healthy as possible. Without your health, life changes dramatically. Don't just keep crankin' like nothing will happen because your doctor said you are ok.
I'm not saying that Jack won't pop up and scare you from time to time, but the more people you have helping you stay on the track to wellness....the better.

*ALERT* Brain Stress*

When we are frightened or angry, the blood vessels in our body contract and limit the flow of blood to our extremities. This is known as vasoconstriction, which is our automatic response to stress. Now you may not consider your brain to be an extremity but it is. Ahhhhhh so that is why we have difficulty thinking straight when we are scared or mad??? Absolutely!!Your forebrain-the pre-frontal cortex, where our rational thought, planning, and execution occur just shuts down. That's when your mid brain takes over. That is your primal/animal section of the brain. Very "reactive" and driven by emotion. That allows the outer layer of your body to become like armor. Unless an artery is struck, you won't bleed very much. It was for going into a fight. We used to fight off predators and other humans for food etc. Your muscles are affected as well, only they become less moveable and you may loose some fine motor control. Like if you need to write your name or button a shirt or zip your coat it would be more difficult. Now I just learned something interesting about this stress reaction from the military standpoint. We realize they are in a different type of stress than we are because they are in life threatening stress much more often. If the level of stress continues they loose their ability to hear and they get tunnel vision. This would be like looking through a paper towel tube. Isn't that strange?? It gives you a HUGE wake up call about stress and how it affects us.

Now you see how it physically affects us, but do you realize in the every day life we live that this type or extent of stress causes illness?? I have personally reviewed thousands of individuals medical history and the disturbing thing I have learned is that stress puts you and I at risk for cancer and other illnesses. Do you know someone that has had cancer? Think about them for a minute. What was their life before they were diagnosed? Was is full of too much of something? Did they run themselves ragged for a reason? Did they encounter any depressing or discouraging situation on a regular basis that was too much to handle?? I would say YES.

Stress on your brain, causes illness if you have no way to get away from it. SO now that you understand the problems of stress and the risks to your health, let me ask you...do you suffer from too much stress on a regular basis? Do you have a way to get away from it?? Do you have someone who can teach you what you need to know?? I am a holistic nurse and I am here and ready to speak to you about your situation. Don't wait. Contact me now so that you can get on the path to wellness BEFORE the stress causes more damage. We all have stress. Everyone learns how to deal with it by our past experience. If that doesn't work for you then let me help you learn something new.

Hocus Focus

I used to multitask like a wildwoman. Now that I am older I wonder exactly how well I did at that. No matter, in this moment in time I have learned to do one thing at a time, do it at a moderate pace and do it well. The quality is much more satisfying when you look back and I have this saying..."Your work is your autograph" when people see what you do, it should be a true reflection of who you are. I would like to think people see value in what I teach. I know there was value for me when I learned it. I also hope they see love and respect and kindness and deep appreciation for life.

Before I owned my own business, something was missing. My business has helped me step out of my comfort zone. It encouraged me daily to learn and grow to meet it's endless needs. All things I am grateful for.

If you focus on something you are passionate about, it becomes magical. All the distractions fade. You pour your thoughts and heart into it and could work late into the night at whatever you desire without getting weary.
Whatever you want in your life, you know what that is. You can have it. Focus on it with persistence. Be willing to change. Give it your full attention long enough each day to move it along. Be consistent and never never quit.
